Some vendors would have you buy a system that claims to perform 60,000 IOPS per array but will only allow you to connect 14 drives. Not even Fibre Channel disk drives can do 4285 IOPS(60,000/14) when moving meaningful user data! A certain amount of headroom is desirable but this over-engineering costs money and lowers flexibility. If you want to build a system that scales in this way (low number of drives per controller) with StoneFly components, you can, and it will still cost you less than those other vendor’s models.

We don’t publish IOPS numbers because benchmark numbers are meaningless. Our systems will scale linearly with the IOPS delivered by the installed drives in real world scenarios.
