If I have a edit node, how fast can I move data?
Working with DV 25 or DV 50:
Note: The eStor can support 180, 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 MBps throughput!!!! This means it can push and pull from multiple nodes at high rate of speed. The REAL node transfer speed has many factors, like the CPU on your edit node, O/S, ram, bus, NIC card and software. They all play a role in how fast you can hit the powerful eStor. For the below we are using a standard baseline of 45 MBps throughput on a single NIC GigE.
45 MBps from node to eStor and from eStor to node:
Amount of Video |
Class Stream |
Data Total |
Transfer time one way |
|
5 minutes (300 Seconds) |
DV25 ~ 3. MBps |
900MB |
20 seconds 15x realtime |
|
|
DV50 ~ 6. MBps |
1.8GB |
40 seconds 7x realtime |
|
10 minutes (600 Seconds) |
DV25 ~ 3. MBps |
1.8GB |
40 seconds 15x realtime |
|
|
DV50 ~ 6. MBps |
3.6GB |
80 seconds (1.3Min) 7.5x realtime |
|
20 minutes (1200 seconds) |
DV25 ~ 3. MBps |
3.6GB |
80 seconds (1.3Min) 15x realtime |
|
|
DV50 ~ 6. MBps |
7.2GB |
160 seconds (2.6Min) 7.5x realtime |
So you can see, if you are an editor and need to get 5 minutes of DV25 from the eStor it will take you 20 seconds!!!!!!
How about getting 10 minutes sequence of DV50 video? 80 seconds !!!!!! Bam!!!!!! Just like that.
And since the eStor is shared device you, edit bay 2, edit bay 3, edit bay 4 and so on can do the same!!!!! Easy as PIE.

Apace Systems NAS Storage speeds. How fast to
move data?
To calculate how long to feed multiple edit bays
with video files / data using single GigE
network from Apace Systems NAS eStor.
Question: How long to transfer 1 minute of SD
video (168Mbit/s, 1 Minute = 1.2GB file size)
that resides on the Apace?
Answer: Take 1.26GB x 1000 = 1260MB or
Megabytes. 1260MB divide by 45MBps (average edit
bay node single GigE speed)
and your answer is: 28 Seconds to get a 1Min SD
sequence off the Apace eStor.
Note: If you do not want to do file transfer
called (push / pull), use the Apace vStor where
the files / video data stays on the vStor.
Realtime editing right off the vStor. No need to
used push / pull.
